With modern archery simulators, 4D archery is a growing segment in archery providing many new opportunities. But many know little about its history and why we call it 4D. Here a quick explanation where the term 4D archery originates from. The video above will tell you all you need to know. If not keep reading 🙂

Actually quite strange

Anywhere in archery targets are fixed. Once aligned with the target it is up to the archer when to release. It does not matter if another breath is taken. According to our research and extensive testing, the target will, in most cases still there, even after deciding to grab a coffee prior to commencing the training.

That in itself seems unusual when we consider that archery stems from hunting and the battlefield. In none of those situations, the target would wait for the archer to be ready. So why are we training with non-moving targets again? Obviously, because there are only few alternative training methods available.

The moving targets are the key to 4D archery.

4D archery simulators

Since 4D archery simulators are becoming more and more popular, archers are re-discovering the concept of time in archery. The 4th dimension.

We all know 3D targets. Those bulky foam animals that are hard to transport and store. What is wrong with them? Nothing of course. They actually offer some of the best outdoor training opportunities anyone can experience. However, they don’t move. With moving 4D animals and similar archery targets that are projected to a screen, a crucial dimension is coming back to the sport… TIME.

4D animals will not wait and you will not get a chance for a second breath. Maybe the dragon, fireball or deer will already be gone by the time you are ready. In addition, the angle of the targeted object may change or an obstacle may get in the way! It not only teaches you the shooting at moving targets. Fast loading also becomes a new challenge to many archers.

Instinctive archery

With more and more archers using traditional bows, 4D archery is getting strong grounds in Europe and the first american business follow. I personally feel that 4D archery takes archery back to its roots. Many of our customers, describe their experiences with BowSim 4D as “the real instinctive archery”.

Welcome to 4D Archery… and hurry!!! There is no time to think. Let your instincts take over…
